Flegg calls for consultation on future of Kenmore Police Station

In a recent letter from the Police Minister the Kenmore Police Station is described officially as being in dilapidated condition and that a decision would need to be made soon about the future of the building.
Some years back there was a plan to sell the Kenmore Police Station which was stopped after local protest. Our local area is critically short of most forms of community infrastructure and I have called on the Police Minister to conduct consultation locally about the best possible use of the site.
It is desirable that our local area has either a Police Station or a Police Beat but this has been a hard battle.
I am very concerned that the Government may be foreshadowing yet another asset sale of publicly owned property similar to the sale of emergency services land at Moggill and education department land in Chuwar.
We don’t want to lose any more of our limited, publicly owned property with so many important community activities stymied for want of venues.
