Main Roads should release Goodna Bypass land

The decision of the State Main Roads Department to continue to hold land acquired for the Goodna Bypass has the potential to negatively impact local residents.
The existence of Main Roads Department land frequently impacts property prices and may lead to the impression that future governments intend to utilize that land for road construction.
With both State and Federal Governments insisting that the Goodna Bypass will never be built it is inconsistent that they should continue to hold land within the Main Roads Department in Moggill and Priors Pocket.
On behalf of the local community I have written to the Main Roads Minister and expressed my strong view that this land should be sold for residential purposes. Click here to read my letter to Minister Pitt. It is also my view that given the recency of the acquisition that the original owners should be given an option to re-purchase their property.
The State Government is currently conducting an investigation (Western Brisbane Transport Network Investigation - WBTNI) into the use of land held by the Main Roads Department in the local area. It is unlikely that the investigation is considering the use of land acquired for the Goodna Bypass however whilst it is held by the Mains Road Department this remains a possibility.
The Government should honour its promise to ensure that the Goodna Bypass is not revisited and that properties acquired in Moggill and Priors Pocket are returned to their original residential use.
