Ambulance first responder finally gets the ‘green light’

I am delighted that our local First Responder Program is scheduled to commence in Bellbowrie in early May.
In our area ambulances usually do not respond to critical emergencies within the recommended times. This puts lives at risk.
I have been vigorously pursuing better emergency services for some time and after meeting with the government I am pleased that they have finally recognised our local area’s genuine need for a first responder program.
Volunteers from the community will be trained in advanced first aid techniques and equipped with defibrillators and other life-saving equipment.
A first responder has the potential to save lives whilst patients are waiting for an ambulance. Motor vehicle accidents, heart attacks, drowning and electrocutions are not discerning – they can happen to anyone anytime.
