No boost to bus services in Brisbane’s west

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Member for Moggill Dr Bruce Flegg said that the western suburbs have been overlooked yet again in the State Government’s $5m roll out to improve bus services across Brisbane.

“Not $1 of the $5m is being spent to boost services in our local area,” Dr Flegg said.

Whilst some areas of Brisbane appear to benefit from the $5m investment, Brisbane’s west has largely been ignored.  Apparently the package has been developed by the State Government following feedback from commuters.

Feedback from commuters in the western suburbs has fallen on deaf ears with the government continuing to ignore the desperate need for improved public transport in our local area.

“It is the squeaky wheel that gets oiled but apparently not if you live in the western suburbs."

“I have repeatedly called on the government to do something about improving public transport in our local area but it is like hitting your head against a brick wall,” Dr Flegg said.

“You would think that if the Government was serious about boosting public transport and reducing the amount of cars on our local roads, it would be targeting key areas where there is currently no park and ride, bus lanes or bus connectivity at Indooroopilly station."

“The failure of the Government to provide any park and ride facility or any dedicated bus lanes for our constantly gridlocked roads is yet another slap in the face for our local area.”

“The Government is just not listening!” Dr Flegg said

“We have been left out of the loop yet again.

“I will continue to call for substantial improvements to public transport as an alternative to more and more cars on our roads,” Dr Flegg concluded.
