Government claim Park and Ride won’t worsen flooding

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

I have received a response from the Government’s flood experts within the Transport Department in relation to my concern and the concern of some local residents that the construction of the Park and Ride might add to flooding pressure along Moggill Creek and the adjacent tributary.

If you would like to read the Transport Department’s response please click here

In essence the Government say that their flood studies indicate that the Park and Ride will be at or above 100 year flood level and that it has been designed in such a way as not to worsen flooding of adjoining property.

I am not certain that everyone would agree with that viewpoint as there is some narrowing of the tributary of Moggill Creek in the construction of the Park and Ride however I am pleased that the relevant Minister has made some genuine enquiry in relation to this issue.
