Harmony Day – Everyone Belongs

I encourage everyone to both celebrate our differences and embrace our similarities as in recognition of national Harmony Day this Thursday (21 March).

Held across Australia since 1999, Harmony Day’s main message is “Everyone Belongs” and involves Australians celebrating their diversity by holding events in schools, community groups, churches, businesses and government agencies.

Earlier this year, I was delighted to see a record number of new citizens welcomed at Kenmore Rotary’s Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony. They came from diversity of backgrounds and in fact throughout Queensland we have citizens from over 220 counties.

Harmony Day is a particular opportunity for us to celebrate our wonderful cultural diversity and I encourage everyone to take part.

I am delighted that the Transport Minister has responded to my urgent appeals regarding the proposed changes to Moggill bus services outlined in Translink’s bus network review.

He has advised that the 444 service between Moggill and the CBD will be retained during peak times!

Bus services are critical to transport in Moggill area.

Should you have any feedback on how this review will affect you I would like to hear from you. You can email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   or phone 3378 8020.

You can also still sign the petition at my office calling for the proposed cuts in bus services to the Moggill electorate to be reconsidered.

Copies of the petition can also be downloaded by clicking here. When completed, please return it to my office at at Level 1, Kenmore Village, 9 Brookfield Rd Kenmore or post to PO Box 328 Kenmore QLD 4069, as I will still be presenting this petition to Parliament.

For details of all of the proposed changes in the SEQ Bus Network Review, or to search for details of a specific route, please click here.

We have until the 7th of April to provide further community feedback.

I will continue to provide regular updates on this website as more information comes to hand.

Petition to retain bus services

I am grateful to local resident Catherine Belfield for leading a petition which I will be presenting to Parliament regarding the SEQ bus review.

The petition calls for the proposed cuts to bus services to the Moggill electorate to be reconsidered.

In particular, it calls for the 443 and 444 services to be restored, as well as the 435 which is currently the only transport service to the Brookfield Village aged care facility.

You can download the petition by clicking here.

Copies of the petition are also available from my office.

I encourage you, your friends and family to sign this petition and return it to my office as soon as possible.

For details of all of the proposed changes in the SEQ Bus Network Review, or to search for details of a specific route, please click here.

I will be providing regular updates on this website as more information comes to hand.

Bus review update - feedback period extended

Wednesday, 13 March 2013 10:46

Last week, I wrote to the Transport Minister to say that the magnitude of the proposed changes in the SEQ Bus Network Review and the fact that so many services have been cut entirely meant that the two week period provided for feedback was grossly inadequate.

I urged him to extend the period of time available for feedback so that people would have a proper opportunity to go through the review and appreciate the implications and still have time to provide their feedback.

I am pleased that the Minister has now announced a two week extension to the feedback period.

Feedback can now be provided to Translink up until Sunday 7 April.

I would appreciate your urgent feedback on the bus review by emailing me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

I would also encourage you to provide feedback direct to Translink, which you can do by clicking here.
