Kenmore Bypass
Kenmore Bypass not forgotten!
Thursday, 19 July 2012 14:38
Readers of a local newspaper article may have formed a false impression that I have given up on a Kenmore Bypass as a solution to the intolerable level of traffic congestion on Moggill Road.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
I have always been, and will continue to be, an active advocate for the Kenmore Bypass.
Current levels of congestion along Moggill Road severely impact the lifestyle of local residents who need to leave home earlier and earlier just to get to work, school and so on.
RACQ surveys constantly show Moggill Road to be one of the slowest commutes in our city.
Local real estate agents report the most common reason local resident are forced to sell their family home and leave our area is traffic.
The fact that the previous failed Labor Government left Queensland perilously cash strapped doesn’t alter either the need or my determination to address the traffic chaos we face when budgetary conditions and Labor debt are under control.
No joy on Kenmore Bypass
Friday, 04 March 2011 12:34
After having waited since May for some indication of the government's intention in relation to the Kenmore Bypass, I eventually obtained a ministerial briefing in December 2010.
The briefing contained no joy for local residents who continue to battle some of the worst traffic congestion in Brisbane along Moggill Road.
Essentially the government has made no decision in relation to the Kenmore Bypass and are awaiting a review of traffic conditions on the Western Freeway!
I have been informed that the Government will now not meet their deadline for announcing their response to the Kenmore Bypass Study.

I have been informed that the Government will now not meet their deadline for announcing their response to the Kenmore Bypass Study.
This is very disappointing for local residents many of whom live with considerable uncertainty until the Government is able to clarify their intention.
The delay and its impact on local residents have reached an unacceptable length. Advice is that the department have delayed advice to the Minister whilst the “Departmental Investment Committee” assess financial viability relative to other competing projects.Government fails to meet own deadline on Kenmore Bypass Study

I was given assurances by the Government that their response to the Kenmore Bypass Study’s preferred option would be announced by the end of May. The Government has failed to meet their own deadline. Meanwhile traffic conditions continue to be appalling in our area. Whilst every other portion of Brisbane has benefited from major infrastructure in public transport and roads our area has continued to be ignored.
I have again written to the Minister urging that the Government release their response. I will also be looking at the Government’s budget on Tuesday 8th June.
MOGGILL ROAD TOPS 50,000 PER DAY
Friday, 09 April 2010 14:40
I asked for a face to face meeting with the Minister for Main Roads to stress upon him the disgraceful state of traffic congestion on Moggill Road.
At the meeting I was informed that Moggill Road at Chapel Hill is now carrying over 50,000 cars per day!
Local motorists are only too aware that since the resumption of school in February and university in March Moggill Road both morning and afternoon has ground to a halt again.
I wanted to make sure that, particularly as there has been no official response from the Minister in relation to the Kenmore Bypass community consultation, he understood the serious problems local residents are having with Moggill Road particularly at both Kenmore and Chapel Hill.
