Bypass Feedback time extended

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

The State Government Main Roads Department has published advertisements indicating that the period of time allowed for submissions and feedback on the options for the Kenmore Bypass has been extended until Monday 16 February 2009.

The initial phase of the study which comprised community feedback and a community consultation group has resulted in the options that have been put forward.

If you wish to view them again please click here

This is an important phase of the study because it involves the community having a say in the shape and functioning of the bypass intersections at both ends and also in relation to the potential problems resulting from the closure of Gem Road.

The options also include a number of alternatives for cycleways on which the study group is also looking for comment.

In my view a dedicated cycleway (not simply a cycle shoulder on the road) should be an essential component of any proposed new road.

In the case of the local area it would be the first link that our area has had to the growing cycleway network of Brisbane.

I have lodged a submission in relation to the options put forward by the study group. To read my submission click here.
