Get your home energy use audited for $50
Tuesday, 13 January 2009 14:37
The ClimateSmart Home Service commenced on 5th January, 2009.
Under this State initiative for a cost of $50 a qualified electrician will visit to your home, conduct a brief energy audit and install a household energy monitor.
In addition up to fifteen compact fluorescent light globes and a water efficient shower head will be supplied and installed free of charge.
A customised energy and water saving plan will also be provided as a follow-up to the in-home audit. It has been estimated that households could save up to $250 per year in energy and water bills as well as significantly reducing their greenhouse gas emissions.
I urge local constituents to take advantage of this initiative.
Local residents are only too well aware of the substantial savings that were made in water use by focusing on household by household consumption as a means of improving efficiency.
It has been my belief for a long time that similar or possibly greater savings could be achieved in the area of focusing household by household on electricity consumption.
I have booked my home in and I encourage you to do the same. Hopefully you make savings for yourself, savings for the environment and also help reduce the amount of peak power generation capacity that needs to be constructed in our growing State.
