Questions over Moggill Road Flooding

Some serious questions need to be asked of the Government in relation to repeated flooding of the newly constructed section of Moggill Road inbound from Pullenvale Road.
Local residents endured years of disruption while new roadworks were prepared on Moggill Road from Kilkivan Avenue to Pullenvale Road but it seems extraordinary that a new road should have been closed by flooding on two occasions in under twelve months.
One would expect that a major State controlled road when reconstructed would be an all weather road. Whilst an extreme weather event can’t always be catered for the recurrence of repeated flooding seriously raises the question as to whether flood planning was adequately done for this expensive roadway.
As a State controlled road Moggill Road is designed to connect whole communities. In fact for many, many local residents it is the only way in and out. Flood levels and flood maps should allow engineers to build major roads that are not subject to regular flooding.
I have written to the Main Roads department requesting details of the flood planning for this road.
