Cyclists to get Moggill Road crossing
Friday, 31 July 2009 15:59
Currently cyclists that stay on their bike across Moggill Road on the Western Freeway are committing an offence and may be booked.
This particular crossing point links one of Brisbane’s major cycleways. I am pleased that the Department of Main Roads has agreed to approve a separate cycle crossing alongside the pedestrian crossing with “cycle lanterns” to show cyclists when they are allowed to ride across.
This will make cycling across the cycle crossing legal.
However the usual catch applies and the Department of Main Roads is waiting for funding to be available. So for the time being cyclists should dismount or run the gauntlet of being booked.
