McIntyre Centre Open Day a great success

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

The Open Day conducted by Horse Riding for the Disabled Centre (McIntyre Centre) on Moggill Road at Pinjarra Hills to celebrate restoration of flood ravaged fencing and the like was a huge success with hundreds of people visiting the site and learning more about the enormously valuable work.

The community workers of the McIntyre Centre have for over 40 years provided a fabulous service to disabled people and their families enabling them to participate in activities that would otherwise be completely impossible for them.

They have built this centre into one of the largest in the world yet despite this there is now a 5 year wait for disabled people to  enter a program at the McIntyre Centre.

The centre has ambitious plans for a major redevelopment that would require substantial amounts of funding but as I am sure anyone who has seen the benefits of the work they do or has been involved with children with disabilities will attest this is a very worthy project that deserves strong support and will provide valuable benefit to people if it can get off the ground.

Project Developer Julie Tom, President Mr Garry Butler and General Manager Dennis Keates excelled themselves with the family fun day and I wish them well.
