Fire assessment available

If you live in a very high fire danger area, an assessment of your fire risk and your best response to a fire is available from the Queensland Fire and Rescue, as well as from the local bushfire volunteers. I met with
Assistant Commissioner Ian Mitchell who gave an undertaking the service was more than happy to assess high risk areas.
If you and/or your neighbours are not sure of what your bushfire survival plan should be, please contact my office on 3378 8020 and we will be happy to arrange an assessment for you.
I have been particularly concerned about areas that have limited access by road and therefore limited escape options and are in hilly terrain and heavily vegetated, areas such as Upper Brookfield, parts of Brookfield, Lake Manchester, Mount Crosby and a number of other local areas.
We don’t always think about fire prevention until it’s too late so I do encourage local residents to be prepared with a fire emergency plan. Our local area contains some of the highest risk parts of Brisbane and I want to see local families protected as best we can.
