No action on dangerous Moggill Road turn

Despite promises some years ago the Main Roads Department has taken no action to address the unsafe right turn from Moggill Road into Witton Road at Chapel Hill.

This is a commonly used right hand turn for traffic heading in the direction of Indooroopilly but despite some 44,000 cars a day using this stretch of Moggill Road there is no right hand turn lane.

Many local residents have contacted me concerned that the promised landscaping along the noise barriers on the newly constructed section of Moggill Road had not proceeded.

I raised this issue with the Minister for Main Roads.

Local residents have expressed concern that the left hand turn lane from Moggill Road into Kilkivan Avenue at Kenmore was being used as a bus stop.

This was producing problems for traffic that was seeking to turn left out of Moggill Road at the same time as buses (which have right of way when pulling out) were leaving the bus stop.

Residents win on safety rail

Eagle eyed local residents who reported their fears about a very sharp drop from the edge of the road on Moggill Road near the Fairview Retirement Village have had a win.

After I put forward concerns raised with me by a number of local road users to Department of Main Roads they have agreed to install a safety rail in this area.

This is a win for concerned local road users who were forward thinking enough to see what could be a potentially dangerous situation.

Once again however we shall have to wait for the government to put into action the result of their decision but nevertheless I am pleased to see it at any rate.
