Moggill//Witton Road our most dangerous intersection

One of the more ridiculous configurations on Moggill Road at its busiest point at Chapel Hill is the absence of a right hand turn lane into Witton Road.
There have been 4 Police reported (serious) accidents just since September last year.
It is estimated by witnesses that there have around 30 accidents in recent years. I have been urging the Government to rectify this situation for years. They have informed me that a request for $935,000 to build a right hand turn lane was made to the Safer Roads Sooner Program in September 2009.
I don’t believe this is enough. It needs to be funded now. It is clearly identified as a dangerous intersection. The Government should just commit to fixing it.
In the meantime I have asked that the kerbside lane outbound be made a left hand turn only lane. To read my letter to the Minister click here.Outbound vehicles in the kerbside lane that are not seen by right turn traffic from Moggill Road are the most common cause of accident. A couple of weeks ago a female motorcyclist was seriously injured in just this way.
