Grandview Road reconsidered

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Recently I met with Main Roads Minister Wallace to strongly reinforce our community’s concern about safety at the intersection of Grandview Road and Moggill Road.

I am delighted that the Minister has asked his Department to reconsider earlier statements that any improvement to the area such as lights would be too expensive.

The risk to pedestrians at the busy bus stop on the corner of Grandview Road and Moggill Road is far too high for it to be dismissed simply as being too expensive.

The Minister has indicated to me that the Main Roads Department investigation of this intersection will take approximately 12 weeks.

I want to again thank Mr Dave Davis, a local resident who was so concerned about this issue that he raised a petition to State Parliament on the matter.

I will keep you informed of the outcome. I do view this issue as one of the top safety concerns in our area and one of the most likely places where we could tragically see a preventable fatality.
